Fatherland Defender’s Day Reception

Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Korea A.A.Timonin and Military Attaché A.P.Falileev hosted a reception on the occasion of the Fatherland Defender’s Day (Russian Army Day). Senior officials from the Ministry of Defense and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, representatives of business society, scientists, culture figures and heads of diplomatic missions and military attachés accredited in Seoul took part in the reception.

In his opening remarks Ambassador A.Timonin underlined that in Fatherland Defender’s Day Russia paid tribute to those citizens who had dedicated themselves to military service and whose meaning of life was to protect sovereignty and security of the Homeland and people. The Ambassador also mentioned that with unprecedented growth of terrorist threat Russia continued to act as one of the biggest powers which not only at protected its own interests but fulfilled its responsibility for maintaining international peace and stability. He added that Russian Armed Forces successfully fighting against Islamic State terrorists in Syria at the appeal of Syrian Government played an important role in the war against terrorism. Ambassador Timonin expressed his confidence that further development of military ties between Russia and the Republic of Korea would contribute to maintaining peace and security in the Northeast Asia.
