Esteemed Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Lim Sung-nam,
Esteemed Deputy Minister of Knowledge Economy, Mr.Mun Che-do,
Dear colleagues, Ambassadors of Foreign Missions in the Republic of Korea,
Ladies and gentlemen,
I am glad to welcome you at the reception on the occasion of the Russian Diplomatic Service Day, which is celebrated this year for the 11th time in Russia.
Nowadays Russian diplomats have many things to be proud of – last year Russia had the highest economic growth rate among G-8, strengthened its international position, successfully held APEC Summit as well as other important forums, and further developed relations with the majority of countries. Being the Ambassador to Seoul, I am greatly satisfied that the two summits were held in 2012 and despite of economic crisis we managed to keep on the same level bilateral trade with our strategic partner- the Republic of Korea. The main achievement to my conclusion is that the President of Russia H.E. Vladimir Putin and the President-elect of the Republic of Korea H.E. Park Geun-hye confirmed their mutual intention to keep and develop the relations of strategic partnership.
The considerable contribution was made by our colleagues from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, the Ministry of Knowledge Economy, other Government agencies, our friends from scientific, social and cultural organizations many of whom are present today.
I would like to especially mention one of the genuine cultural envoys, a close friend of Russia, famous opera singer Mr. Lee Yeon Seong. I am honoured to convey him memorable award and replica of State Emblem of the Russian Federation for his performance of great services in the development of cultural cooperation.
Dear friends and colleagues,
The Lunar New year, which is celebrated not only in Asia, but also in Russia, is coming in two days. I hope that the Year of Snake will be lucky for you and your relatives, and I want to wish you good health, happiness and all the best!
