The Hon. Dr. Chung Won-Sik, Former Prime Minister,
The Hon. Dr. Cho Wan-Kyu, Former Minister of Education,
Dr. Jang In-Hwan, Board Chairman of ShinIl Educational Foundation,
Dr. Kang in, President of SeoulCyberUniversity,
Distinguished faculty members,
Ladies and Gentlemen and especially the Graduate Class.
It’s my great honor to give a congratulatory address at the commencement exercises of SeoulCyberUniversity, which has sisterhood relationships with highly esteemed universities in Russia.
As we all know, education is one of necessities for human being. Besides, both teaching and learning continue throughout our lives.
The noble purpose of education has remained the same but the methods of education have been continuously transformed and innovated. Let’s take a look at the development process of telecommunication and transportation. Long time ago, our ancestors relied on a stagecoach to send their messages.
It was evolved to postal services, and then fax machines were invented. Nowadays e-mails have replaced fax machines. Also, a variety of cutting-edge mobile phones such as smart phone which are being used widely, help us communicate with others and exchange information.
Just like these changes, education methods have also been evolved from the blackboard with chalk and expanded to online education through the Internet. Futurologists predict online higher education will take up some 40 percent of the whole college education market. In short, the development of science and technology are creating new ways of education and generating further innovation.
In Russia, my native country, many people are paying keen attention to online education, just what SeoulCyberUniversity offers, which can help students continue to study while saving time and money.
Without any hesitation, I can say that you graduates are the pioneer in online education and, at the same time, you are the luckiest people who benefit from this newest education system.
And I’d like to pay my high respect for the vision of SeoulCyberUniversity on their introduction of the 21st century way of education.
My dear graduating class! I wish you all the best for your future endeavors.
Thank you!
