On June 11, 2014, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Korea held a state reception dedicated to the Day of Russia. The event was attended by Speaker of the National Assembly Mr. Chung Ui-hwa, Senior Secretary of the President of the Republic of Korea Mr. Ju Chul-ki, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Mr. Lee Kyung-soo. Also the delegation of the Russian Parliament headed by Senator Vitalii N. Ignatenko was present at the reception. There were in total more than 600 guests: Ambassadors of foreign countries, representatives of Korean ministries and officials, scientific, cultural and business circles.
National anthems of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Korea were perfomed by the leading Korean vocalists. In his welcoming address H.E. Ambassador of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Korea Konstantin V. Vnukov underlined the importance of the changes the Russian Federation has undergone during almost the quarter of the centure since the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignity and expressed his deep appreciation of the successful development of the Russian-Korean relations over this time and high confidence of their future perspectives, the framework of those was discussed during two meetings of President Vladimir V. Putin and President Park Geun-hye last autumn. In his response, Speaker of the National Assembly Mr. Chung Ui-hwa, who actually chose the Russian Embassy as the first one to visit since his election to the post, confirmed the aspiration of the Korean side for further development of bilateral relations and the support of the joint projects of cooperation.
