 Mr. Chang-soo Yang

Esteemed Mr. Chang Jae-ku,

I have to apply to You in the connection of publishing in the “Korea Times” newspaper web-site on March 30 and April 1, 2010, the caricatures concerning the inhuman terrorist attacks occurred in Moscow subway.

The appearance of such “publications” in the days, when our country mourns over dozens of its citizens, perished following a monstrous crime action, planned by terrorist forces, provoke the feeling of bewilderment and indignity in the Russian community. As well as the most Russian citizens we estimate the publishing of the caricatures in the “Korea Times” newspaper as insult and outrage over the memory of the perished. In our opinion, by making such actions, Your newspaper practically connives at the international terrorists and those forces, who are interested in the destabilization of Russia and other regions of the world.

In particularly, the most deplorable fact is that the caricatures concerning the Moscow tragedy appeared in the period of commemorating by our two nations the 20 th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Korea. Such publications are hardly to promote the relations of the strategic partnership between our two States.

And besides, it’s obvious that the position of Your newspaper contradicts to the sincere feelings of the majority of South Korean people, expressed by the President of the Republic of Korea, Mr. Lee Myung-bak, in the letter of condolences conveyed to the President of the Russian Federation, Mr. D.A.Medvedev, on the occasion of Moscow terrorist attacks. In this connection we are surprised by such an anti-Russian position of the “Korea Times” newspaper as well as by its antihuman attitude towards the Russian citizens, who have lost their relatives following the tragedy.

The Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Korea urgently demands to exclude the appearance of such irresponsible publications in the “Korea Times” newspaper in future and expects official apologies to the Russian side in Your newspaper.
